Raleighwood NC: Out of the Ashes of Podunk

Raleighwood, NC is the blog formerly known as Podunk Raleigh without the condescendingly angrily snarky attitude. The author, still known as Clyde Smith, is undergoing psychic surgery to have that bad attitude removed [not]!

Podunk Raleigh was born during a time when the big boss at New Raleigh was recruiting me. Unfortunately, I was also battling with certain commenters over there and realized that, though most of the commenters were pretty cool, a rhetorical environment existed of which I did not want to be a part.

So, though I think New Raleigh is a great local blog, the things I didn't like spurred me to launch my own.

However, the negative components of Podunk Raleigh felt to be outweighing the positive and I just can't run on negative energy for extended periods. Yet I still want to be able to blog about the good things happening in Raleigh especially since, if I establish a positive platform, folks will forgive me if I get around to writing about The Devolution of the Sadlack's Scene or decide to share the story of My Depressing Visit to the Mayflower Collective.

That said, a new platform emerges and it too was inspired, in part, by recruitment interest from a friend involved with a new Raleigh website, Raleigh Public Record, about which I will write quite soon.

So, here we are, a brand new blog with a bit of the old and, as a new Raleigh resident who grew up here and then left for quite a while, that feels about right.
