AP Video: Artist in a Jam Over Traffic Barrel Monster
It looks like the days of riding around with a bandanna for a mask may have run into an anonymity crushing wall of international "Barrel Monster" coverage for Joseph Carnevale, aka uliveandyouburn, whose mug shot was recently outed by The Smoking Gun and who will now face random harassment from local law enforcement.
Actually, I don't know what he'll face but I remember (said grandpa) walking down Hillsborough St. with Mike Dean back in the 80's and having a Raleigh detective come up, stop him, request his id, ask if he'd been spraying graffiti and then letting us go on our way. Mike said they'd been stopping him randomly ever since some fans sprayed C.O.C. on the wall of some house they'd broken into even though no other connections were made to members of the band.
In the above video, Carnevale says he was charged with misdemeanors and that the barrel company doesn't want to press charges. Actually, they want to use the sculpture for marketing, or murketing as the case may be, which may or may not fit Carnevale's agenda but bodes a positive outcome.
Let's hope Detective Local Yokel bears that in mind!
